Privacy policy
SetuTag exists so that people can reach you without seeing your phone number. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
Last updated: September 2026
This policy is written in plain language and describes how SetuTag works today. It applies to this website and to the QR tags we issue.
Who we are
SetuTag is operated by Dikshan Karwa ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@setutag.in.
What we collect
From tag owners (when you get a tag)
- Your name.
- Your WhatsApp number, and up to two optional emergency contact numbers.
- Your vehicle type and, if you give it, your vehicle number.
- Payment details are handled by Razorpay. We receive an order and payment reference and the payment status. We do not see or store your card, UPI or bank details.
From people who scan a tag
- The location they choose to share, and an optional short message. We do not ask for their name or phone number, and do not collect them.
- Technical information such as the device and IP address is seen by our hosting and security providers in the normal course of serving a web page.
How we use it
- To create your tag and send you WhatsApp alerts when someone scans it.
- To send an alert to your emergency contacts if a person reports an emergency.
- To take payment, keep accounting records and give you support.
- To prevent abuse, for example by limiting how often a tag can be alerted.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
How your phone number is protected
Phone numbers are stored in encrypted form. They are decrypted only at the moment an alert is sent to you. Your number, and your emergency contacts' numbers, are never shown to the person who scans your tag and are never sent to their browser. The person scanning does not receive your number in the alert either.
Location and messages from people who scan
The location and message are used for the single alert that person chooses to send. We keep a temporary record of the alert for a short time (no more than about 13 hours) so we can confirm delivery and send a fallback if delivery fails. After that it is deleted.
Who we share information with
We use these service providers to run SetuTag, and they process information on our behalf:
- Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) to deliver alerts to you on WhatsApp.
- Razorpay to process payments.
- Supabase to store tag and order records.
- Render to host the website and application.
- Google Fonts to load the typefaces used on this site, which involves your browser contacting Google.
- A bot-protection and an SMS service may be used to keep the service safe and to deliver an alert if WhatsApp cannot.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the safety of a person.
How long we keep it
- Tag records (your numbers and vehicle details) are kept while your tag is active, and deleted when you ask us to.
- Order and payment records are kept for as long as needed for accounting and legal obligations.
- Alert records are deleted within about 13 hours, as described above.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or to deactivate your tag, by writing to support@setutag.in. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied, use the grievance process on our contact page.
Cookies
We do not set cookies for tracking or advertising. Third-party services we use, such as the payment window, may set their own cookies when you use them.
Children
SetuTag is for vehicle owners and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
